NOW

Understanding our world today

Infographic Project

In the NOW segment of Project Quest, students study various current day issues with water, from drought to water rights, to conservation efforts. Each student is asked to research a particular topic based upon a question they develop. In the example at the right, this student asked "How severe are the water diseases in Africa?"

To communicate what they've learned through researching and analyzing the data, students produce an infographic that illustrates key facts in both graphic and text form.

This infographic is then shared one component of their final piece through a digital book, news documentary or public speaking event.

As an introduction to the Now segment of Project Quest, students visit the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant to learn how sewage is treated and water is reclaimed and pushed back out into the environment. The afternoon is then spent on Dockweiler Beach, doing a beach clean-up community service for Heal the Bay.
